Linking environmental and geoenergy systems

The Institute of Drilling Engineering and Fluid Mining combines environmental and geoenergy systems in relation to underground energy production and storage, water dynamics and soil protection. We conduct research for the energy transition and adaptations in the Anthropocene and develop solutions for pressing issues of our time.

Our courses are aimed at prospective environmental scientists and geo-engineers in the degree programmes Geoengineering, Geotechnics, Mining and Geo-Energy Systems and Environmental Systems Science - Geoecology and Geology/Mineralogy in Bachelor's and Master's programmes.

Our teams cover engineering fundamentals, new developments in geothermal energy, drilling and production technology, reservoir exploitation and storage, as well as modern issues of renewable and sustainable energy use.

For soil and water conservation we unify expertise in the the various fields of landscape and environmental system sciences.
