Tasks

The University Archive is a staff unit of the Chancellor. It archives all university documents that are of lasting value for science and research, administration or legal protection.

With its holdings, the archive supports administration, research and studies and provides the necessary administrative assistance to other authorities. It makes the archive material accessible for use, answers enquiries and issues study time certificates. Its scientific cataloguing and analysis activities serve above all to present the history of the university. It plans and organises exhibitions on important historical events and anniversaries or participates in events as part of its public relations work.

The University Archive's collection, which began with the founding of the scholarship fund in 1702, currently comprises around 2,400 linear metres of files and various collections.
