Choosing a degree programme, applying and starting your studies – the start of your degree brings with it many new experiences and raises numerous questions. The FAQs provide an overview of frequently asked questions about starting your degree and all aspects of studying at TUBAF.
Once you have decided on your field of study, the next step is to choose a Degree. TUBAF offers Bachelor’s, Master’s and Diplom Degrees.
The WIN Foundation Programme at TUBAF offers students the opportunity to spend two semesters putting together and trying out course content from the fields of Business and law, engineering and natural sciences over two semesters, tailoring them to your own needs and giving them a go.
TUBAF offers over 65 bachelor’s, diploma and master’s degree programmes, primarily taught in German. For German-language degree programmes, prospective international students must meet the language requirements and have passed a language test.
In addition, prospective international students can apply for an English-language Master’s programme.
Students have rated TU Bergakademie Freiberg as the best small university in Germany. By taking first place in the ranking of the most popular universities with fewer than 5,000 students, they secured the ‘StudyCheck Award 2026’ for the Freiberg university. This top ranking is based on an analysis by the comparison portal ‘StudyCheck’ and thus on the students’ own reviews. The result reflects the innovative teaching, personalised support and practical relevance of the STEM degree programmes at TU Bergakademie Freiberg.
