The Professorship for Technical Thermodynamics is currently divided into four research groups:

• Thermophysical Material Properties
• Process Engineering Material and Process Data
• Numerical Thermofluid Dynamics
• Sorption Research

Both basic research and industry-related research are carried out here. Furthermore, the Scientific Diving Centre (SDC) at TU Bergakademie Freiberg is based at the professorship for Technical Thermodynamics and is active in education and research.
