Welcome to the website of the Chair of Connected Mobile Machinery (CMM). The professorship is a supporting pillar of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and is assigned to the Faculty of Mechanical, Process and Energy Engineering (Faculty 4).
We deal with all aspects of the structural design of mobile machinery (e.g. mining and construction machinery, drilling rigs). extraction and construction machinery, drilling rigs) and their components, taking into account
- Lightweight structures for mobile machinery
- Machine/material interface
- Automation and safety concepts for mobile machinery
- Mobile machinery as an indicator of interaction/communication with other machines and their higher-level control systems
- Developments of systems and equipment for deep-sea mining (massive sulphides, Indian Ocean)
- Signal processing for non-GPS-based inertial navigation (IMU)
- BMWK research project "Deep Sea Sampling" (https://www.deepseasampling.de/)
The professorship is part of the Profiling Initiative 2025 "Engineering of Cyber Physical Systems" (intelligent networking of processes, plants and machines) of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg.
