Multi-mineral extraction

Projektbeschreibung (englisch)

Mathematical modelling of optimal extraction of multiple “minerals” from a deposit. The purpose is to extend the existing vast literature on optimal extraction (both in terms of pure theoretical concepts as well as in more practical modelling, e.g. sequencing), because commonly only one such mineral is considered. Multiple mineral extraction is practically not covered in the literature (only in some papers and usually in the case of fixed proportions between two or more such minerals, which however, can be seen as a kind of an extension of the single mineral case). The main purposes are to understand the mathematical dynamics of such a new approach and to deliver a tool for measuring the (increased) value of such deposits when considered from their multiple minerals perspectives. However, real progress made so far is not much.
