Welcome to the Institute of Nonferrous Metallurgy and High-Purity Materials

At the Institute of Nonferrous Metallurgy and High Purity Materials (INEMET), the focus is on sustainable and innovative processes that rethink existing production processes and the handling of supposed waste products in line with the circular economy and the zero waste concept. We are characterised by a young and committed team led by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alexandros Charitos, who are working together to create a greener future and revolutionise non-ferrous metallurgy. Together, we are developing existing processes within pyro- and hydrometallurgy as well as the semiconductor industry in working groups and in a wide variety of projects.

It is important to us to support students at an early stage and to familiarise them with the enormous potential and diversity of non-ferrous metallurgy. Thanks to our national and international contacts and good relationships with various companies, we offer a wide range of opportunities from which our students in particular also benefit. They can already gain experience in various areas of work during their studies and explore new paths together with us in a family atmosphere.
