The university culture at TUBAF
Diversity, equality, inclusion and openness to the world are central to academic learning and working at the university. We attach particular importance to a family atmosphere, interdisciplinary cooperation and individual support for our students.
At TU Bergakademie Freiberg, students and employees are included in study and working life regardless of their gender identity, family and health situation, with or without disabilities, social background, sexual orientation, skin colour or cultural background, and their individuality is valued and supported.

The family-friendly university stands for the compatibility of studies, academic career, career and starting a family as well as the fulfilment of family-related obligations, such as caring for relatives. TU Bergakademie Freiberg is working towards this goal through various activities and networks. The "Family-friendly university" certificate seals this commitment. In 2023, the university once again successfully took part in the independent audit by berufundfamilie Service GmbH, making it one of nine universities in Saxony currently authorised to call itself family-friendly.
International and cosmopolitan university
Freiberg University of Technology is a cosmopolitan place. Diversity of opinion and international exchange have always been the basis of our research and teaching activities. TUBAF works and collaborates with the scientific community in Germany in the firm conviction that scientific knowledge can only be gained in an open, free and international discourse.
Sustainability and environmental management
Sustainability is one of the key values in the mission statement of TU Bergakademie Freiberg and a central focus of our scientific profile. Consequently, the university also wants to be a role model itself and strives to operate its campus in the most environmentally and climate-friendly way possible.
Solidarity with Ukraine
Immediately after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the university broke off institutional contacts with universities in Russia - in particular with St Petersburg - and set up extensive aid programmes for students and universities in Ukraine. Within the scope of our possibilities, we are trying to offer concrete help and make both studying and academic work possible despite the crisis.
