Try out studying - school university during the 2024 holidays
We invite you to get to know our university, various degree programmes and the city of Freiberg during the Saxon summer holidays 2024.
Students interested in studying from year 10 can take part in the project weeks. Year 10 and above can take part in the project weeks:
- participate in specially designed lectures, experiments, lab tours, excursions or competitions
- explore different areas of science
- try out what it "feels like", being a student
- slip into the role of researchers and students
- discover interesting career prospects
- make contacts
- spend eventful, exciting and fun days with peers at TU Bergakademie Freiberg.
Let yourself be infected by the enthusiasm of our students and researchers for their subject area. Discover the city of Freiberg as a place to study and live and make your first contacts with the university and its many members. We look forward to welcoming you.

Who is the school university aimed at?
The Student University is aimed at pupils from the 10th grade and high school graduates who are interested in studying at TU Bergakademie Freiberg.
I am not yet in the 10th grade. Can I still take part?
Places in the individual projects are reserved for prospective students in year 10 and above. If the capacities are not yet exhausted and a student is particularly interested, there is also the possibility of participation from year 9 onwards.
Registration
Registration is complete as soon as you have filled out the registration form in full and sent the data to us.

Costs
We charge a one-off participation fee of 35 euros for each project. If you wish to organise accommodation via the Central Student Advisory Service, an additional 15 euros per night will be charged (including breakfast and bed linen).
Please transfer the participation fee no later than two weeks before the start of the project.
No. Please send us proof of payment of the fee and any accommodation costs by e-mail or fax.
Yes, if we are informed up to 14 days before the start of the project. If participation is cancelled at short notice, the programme fee will not be refunded.
Programme
The programme will be linked in the title of the respective programme description at the latest one week before the start of the project. Please understand that we will not send you any further documents by post once we have confirmed your enrolment.
In most cases, participants have the opportunity to report to the respective institutes by 10 a.m. on the first day at the latest. If you are unable to arrive until later, it is possible to join the current programme. Please make a note of this request when registering or afterwards by e-mail.
The events start at 8 a.m. at the earliest and end at 5 p.m. at the latest. During this time, the participants are supervised in the individual departments.
On some days, the specialist programme is followed by joint activities with the students and academic staff of the university (e.g. a barbecue evening, games evening, cinema visit, etc.). This programme is optional.
Catering
Participants staying overnight in the Pi House will receive breakfast and dinner in the accommodation. Lunch is served daily in the canteen. Participants eat here at the student price of EUR 2.50 to EUR 5.00.
A kitchen and a barbecue area are available in the accommodation.
Overnight stay
Yes, please make a note of your wish to stay overnight in Freiberg during the project weeks when you register. Subsequent room reservations at very short notice cannot be guaranteed.
You will stay overnight in the Pi-Haus Freiberg (Beethovenstraße 5, 09599 Freiberg).
Unfortunately, it is not possible to stay overnight in the PI House before the start of the project. We ask that you organise additional overnight stays yourself (e.g. guest house at DBI, Elly Hostel).
Accommodation is usually provided on the day of arrival.
Yes, the accommodation is supervised by university students.
The cost per overnight stay is 15 euros.
