Industrial Heritage Quo Vadis? - Status & Perspectives of Industrial Heritage & Industrial Monument Preservation in Germany

25/26 March 2024 at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg under the patronage of the Saxon State Minister for Culture and Tourism Barbara Klepsch.

Since the founding of the Institute for the History of Mining and Metallurgy (IGBH) at the Bergakademie Freiberg in 1954, Freiberg has developed into one of the centres for recording and researching the monuments of technology and industry in Germany. On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of this academic tradition, which is still continued today by the Institute for Industrial Archaeology, History of Science and Technology (IWTG) at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, the aim of the conference is to take a critical look at the situation and prospects for industrial culture and the preservation of industrial monuments in Saxony and other federal states in Germany.
