All Bachelor's and Diploma degree programmes as well as numerous Master's degree programmes at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg (TUBAF) are taught in German. At the TUBAF International University Centre, you can attend the intensive preparatory courses German B2 and German C1 with DSH preparation.
In addition, we offer an intensive course German B1 in summer 2024.
These German courses not only expand your general German language skills, but also teach academic and technical language skills that are essential for studying. The content of the courses is based on the TUBAF profile.
At the time of application, applicants must provide proof of German language skills at level B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) (e.g. Goethe-Zertifikat B1, ÖSD Zertifikat B1, telc Deutsch B1). If you do not have one of these certificates, you can also submit proof of attendance of German courses at levels A1 to B1 totalling at least 450 hours of instruction.
Please note that individual courses in German degree programmes may be taught in English. In addition, certain specialised literature is only available in English. It is therefore recommended to have English language skills at level B2 as well.
For enrolment in the degree programme, proof of language proficiency must be provided with one the following examinations or certificates:
- Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang (DSH) - at least DSH-2
- Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache (Test DaF) - at least 4x4
- telc C1 Hochschule
- Deutsches Sprachdiplom der Kultusministerkonferenz -Stufe II (DSD II)
- Goethe-Zertifikat C2: Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom (Goethe-Institute)
- passed German section of the exam Feststellungsprüfung des Studienkollegs
You can take the DSH at TUBAF and attend intensive language courses that prepare you for the DSH.
The intensive German preparatory courses are primarily aimed at applicants with an admission letter for a German taught degree programme (Bachelor's, Diplom, Master's) at TUBAF. Depending on your language proficiency, you can attend one or both intensive preparatory courses and then get enroled in the selected degree programme, provided you successfully pass the DSH. Your admission letter will remain valid while you attend the preparatory German courses.
Other course participants are also welcome to attend the intensive preparatory German courses if there is sufficient capacity.

TUBAF offers the Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang (DSH)* twice a year. The prerequisite for participation is a current letter of admission for a German-language degree programme and proof of sufficient language skills (at least level B2, recommended C1).
