Business and Law

Study concept

Legal issues are omnipresent in business life. For this reason, there is an increasing demand for well-trained graduates who work at the interface between law and business and have both economic and legal expertise.

The Business and Law degree programme is characterised by the combination of legal and economic training content. In contrast to a purely business degree programme, the teaching of methodological and specialist legal knowledge is of great importance. By concentrating on areas of law relevant to business, students are able to analyse and evaluate complex economic issues from a legal perspective. A specialisation in business administration and a compulsory internship complement the basic knowledge acquired and guarantee a high level of practical relevance. In addition, special key qualifications are taught, e.g. out-of-court dispute resolution, which is important for business people, or business ethics.

Study fields

Based on the knowledge acquired in the corresponding foundation modules, the specialization teaches more specific knowledge in the areas of tax types and corporate taxation, operational controlling as well as investment and financing theory. Students develop an understanding of the financial aspects of corporate management, including portfolio management, the influence of taxation on corporate decisions and generation of information required by management to make decisions.

The specialization offers students the opportunity to deal intensively with marketing management instruments, personnel management and project management. This focus enables them to acquire a broad range of skills to be able to operate successfully in the areas of marketing, personnel management and project management.

Students who choose this specialization deepen their knowledge of Energy and Raw Materials Management, Environmental Management and Policies as well as Investment and Financing Theory. This specialization enables them to master the economic challenges associated with energy and resources in a sustainable manner.

Students who choose this specialization focus on Business Process Management and Business Intelligence, Software Engineering and Operational Controlling. This specialization enables an in-depth examination of the efficient design and application of information technology systems.

In this specialization, business knowledge in production management is combined with engineering modules according to individual focus. As a result, students learn to operate in an interdisciplinary manner.
