Business Analytics

Study concept

Business Analytics provides comprehensive methodological and technology-specific knowledge and skills for analyzing data in companies. In addition, students acquire knowledge of analyzing large polystructured data sets (big data) at the interface with other scientific disciplines.

In the first year of study, general competencies in the areas of databases and analytics are taught. This is coupled with lectures from an orientation direction:

  • If a bachelor's degree in economics has been obtained, events from the computer science field must be added.
  • If a bachelor's degree in computer science has been obtained, events from the field of economics must be added.

In the third semester, the focus ist on the application of learned competencies. It is necessary to independently seek an internship position in a company, where an analytics topic will be addressed (Project module). In addition, there is both a practical data integration-oriented project at TUBAF (Case Study module) and a seminar in which the scientific method of Literature Review is applied to prepare for the master's thesis. In the fourth and final semester, the master's thesis is developed.

The study itself consists of a combination of theoretical and practical modules to enable analytics operations in self-service-oriented environments in professional life.
