The Chair of Reaction Engineering is part of the Institute of Energy Process Engineering and Chemical Engineering and is assigned to the Faculty of Mechanical, Process and Energy Engineering. The teaching and research profile of our professorship is mainly in the fields of industrial chemistry and heterogeneous catalysis. Research focuses on basic scientific and application-related issues in the fields of exhaust gas purification, CO2 reduction and the production of synthetic and biogenic fuels. A particular concern is the knowledge-based development of new catalyst materials (rational catalyst design) and chemical process routes.

The professorship offers a wide range of courses and is responsible for the specialization in chemical process engineering in the degree courses in process engineering (chemical engineering). In addition, significant contributions are also made to teaching the fundamentals of reaction engineering for the degree courses in chemistry, engineering, industrial engineering, environmental engineering and energy technology.
