International Summer School „On the Cutting Edge of Sustainable Energy Supply“

The Summer School deals with the most recent scientific and technological developments in the field of renewable energy sources, a renowned research focus at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg. The main focus of the Summer School is on topics as photovoltaics, heat pumps, wind power, especially the power supply of wind power plants and their feedback to supply network as well as the utilization of biomass and waste for the generation of energy. Emphasis is placed on efficient energy application and the improvement of the environmental friendliness of renewable and conventional energy technologies as well as energy saving measures. The course also includes lectures on the world energy situation and on basic conditions related to energy and environmental policy. The lectures will be supplemented by excursions to companies and research institutions of the region leading in the field of renewable energy sources. The academic course will be accompanied by an extensive cultural program, including diverse events in Freiberg as well as excursions.Furthermore, participants have the possibility to take part in a German language course. The course is offered to advanced or graduate students as well as professionals from all over the world having a first degree or having completed at least two years of studies in natural sciences or engineering. For those students who wish to extend their stay to gain professional experience in Germany, the TU Bergakademie Freiberg offers the possibility of a (minimum six-week) internship in one of the partner companies of the university.
