A German scholarship is an attractive way for (aspiring) PhD candidates to fund their degree. The advantage of a scholarship can include: belonging to a prestigious organization, networking, having international research paid for, exclusive events and seminars, and more freedom due to financial independence from your supervisor. Nonetheless, knowing how much time and effort to invest, or mastering all application documents can prove challenging. In this workshop, we aim to

1) give you a general idea of which German scholarship institutions exist;

2) aide you in deciding which one suite you best;

3) and go over what the application process entails.

  • Overview of German scholarship possibilities
  • Overview of scholarship application documents
  • Guidance for if a scholarship is right for you
  • Tips for an application strategy with multiple organizations or programs
  • Best practices for how to write a great research proposal and how to showcase your personality during the interview
Learning outcome:
  • Knowing how to navigate German scholarship possibilities
  • Being able to decide if this type of funding is right for you
  • Being able to write good applications
  • Knowing how to behave during the interview
Please note that we give only certificates for at least 80% attendance in the course.
