Approach

The Tectonophysiys group at Freiberg works on Continental Tectonics; we focus on the crustal deformation but incorporate the analysis of the co-dependence of lithosphere, atmosphere, and mantle an link the fore- and hinterlands of orogens.

Our expertises are in the fields of structural geology, geo/thermo-chronoly, remote sensing, geomathematics and regional tectonics.

Our regional research foci are young orogenic belts like the Himalay-Pamir-Tibet_Myanmar orogenic system of Central Asia, the northern Caribbean plate boundary, the ultrahigh-pressure orogen in Cantral China.

Our methodologic research foci are on Fission-Track DatingAr-Ar Thermochronology, and Tectonic Geomorphology.

GEOARC, the Asian Geoscience Research Center at TU Bergakademie Freiberg coordinates an promotes research in Asia an is the prime contact adress for cooperations. For details on GEOARC and the Research groups use the Team sublink and see the home pages of the team members.

In the following , we give a few field shots introducin our working areas an hopefully interest you ti contact us.

Field area in the southern Pamir (Tadjikistan, close to the most outstanding xenolith locality on Earth)
Field area in Central Tibet (northern Qiangtang)

Field area in Myanmar (Burma)
