Research Interests

Guido's research interests are broad and include mainly aspects of sedimentary provenance analysis, tectonics and sedimentation, basin analysis, regional geology, and palaeogeography. At present, his main research themes are:

  • Palaeogeographic and geodynamic evolution of North Gondwana and its periphery throughout the Phanerozoic
  • Palaeogeographic and geodynamic evolution of Baltoscandia with focus on the late Neoproterozoic and Palaeozoic
  • Environmental changes at the dawn of animal life
  • Testing the reliability and improving methods and tools in sedimentary provenance analysis
  • Research towards exploration of natural resources

Past and present study and field areas of his research are in North and Northeast Africa, Middle East, Eastern Mediterranean, Northern India, Central Europe, and Baltoscandia.
