Abstract

Crinoid remains from Turonian and Coniacian strata of the Sudetes are described for the first time and reffered to the following taxa: Balanocrinus sp., Bourgueticrinus sp. and Styracocrinus cf. peracutus. Skeletal elements comprise mainly isolated ossicles (columnals, cirrals and brachials) although a single theca (S. cf. peracutus) is available as well. These crinoids lived in various ecological niches. Stalked forms were confined either to hard or firm bottoms (Balanocrinus) or soft bottoms (Bourgueticrinus). Stemless crinoids (roveacrinids), on the other hand, were free-living forms.

Ungestielte Crinoiden hingegen (Roveacrinida) stellten nicht-sessile Formen dar.
