Chair for Geochemistry and Geoecology
Geochemistry and Geoecology Working Group's Core Areas:
- Analytical Geochemistry
- Environmental Geochemistry
- Geochronology
- Isotopic Geochemistry
The core areas of Geochronology and Isotopic Geochemistry and their laboratories are headed by Prof. Dr. Marion Tichomirowa. The Analytical and Environmental Geochemistry areas are under the direction of Prof. Dr. Jörg Matschullat with its labs headed by Dr. Alexander Plessow. A broad spectrum of analytical work and services is carried out within the faculty and for other colleagues. The core area of Environmental Geochemistry embraces a wide range of subject areas – from atmospheric chemistry to soil chemistry. Examining biota, water bodies, sediments, material balances, mass balance computations and information on processes remain our priorities in all core areas.
Teaching focuses on:
- Geochemistry / Environmental Geochemistry
- Isotopic Geochemistry
- Geochronology
- Lithogeochemistry
- Trace Element Analytics
- Soil Chemistry
- Limnology
- Atmospheric Chemistry
- Climatology / Meteorology / Climate change
Priorities in research:
- Biogeochemistry of material cycles in atmosphere, hydrosphere and pedosphere
- Geochemical and environmental analytics
- Environmental geochemistry and toxicology
- Isotope investigations and geochronology
- Trace gas emissions from soil
