The following conditions apply to all applicants
Admission to the programme is very competitive indeed: of around 800-1000 applications we receive each year, only some 300-350 are longlisted to send us complete application packages for a more careful review of formal documents. Of those applicants, only approximately 100-120 are shortlisted for final negotiation on admission. At the end, some 20 to 40 students enrol each year.
|Motivation letter||♦||a precise and concise text, in which you tell us why you selected IBRE, how you relate your previous education and/or working experiences with the topics/modules of the programme, and how IBRE can help your future career plans. Write this as if it were a cover letter for a job application with a length of 1 page (not more!) including the usual letter heading and signatiure list.|
|Bachelor degree||♦||(or similar) of a 3 to 4-year programme (depending on the country), in the fields of business studies, economics|
|Curriculum vitae||♦||including your higher education background and your work experience|
|Proof of English language proficiency||♦||Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with at least 90 points (IBT) (DI Code 8233)|
Or: International English Language Testing System (IELTS) (academic test) with a minimum of band 6.5
Or: equivalent English language test, e.g. Pearson Test of English for Academics (PTE Academic) with a min score of 60
A waiver for the test of English language proficiency will be granted to students with English as mother tongue, and may be granted where the previous education was completely in English language. The English test can be taken in form of an oral exam in Freiberg. This will take place before the letter of admission to the study programme can be issued.
|Proof of topical/analytical proficiency||♦||Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT): we usually expect something like a minimum of 570 points for the verbal and quantitative sections (Programme code 123-ZK-23)|
Or: GRE General Test: we usually expect a minimum of 305 points for the verbal and quantitative reasoning sections) (DI Code 8233)
The test may be waived for applicants from applicants with a complete Bachelor or Master (in business-related subjects) from the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, as well as for applicants from partner universities with double degree contracts (UPEC, WUP, WUST, CUGB).
In individual cases, we may extend a conditional admission for applicants who did not yet pass one of the tests with sufficient points. The decision is made based on a review of the application package in total. This conditional admission assumes that applicant will do the test after being shortlisted by our selection committee. This is by no means a waiver for a test, it stays compulsory, and failing to achieve sufficient points excludes the conditionally admitted student from the study programme.
|Job experience||as a general rule, minimum of 1 year job experience is preferred|
Proficiency in German language makes very much sense but is not a requirement, the programme is taught entirely in English language.
The TU Bergakademie Freiberg has the DI Code 8233 for ETS (GRE and TOEFL tests), and 123-ZK-23 for GMAT. Please make sure to use these codes when you do the tests.
