1. CIB Workshop

German

Date of the Workshop: April 30 and 31, 2017

Timeplan of the Workshop: Timetable

Structure and motivation:

The 1st CIB workshop is the first event in a series of three workshops that aim to develop consistent and transparent qualitative and quantitative scenarios for the EU electricity sector. The current research initiative foresees representation and further improvement of the Cross-Impact Balance Approach, which allows to evaluate quantitative and qualitative aspects of the electricity system development. The outcomes of the workshops will be employed in the subsequent steps of the 4NEMO project work, in particular they will be taken into account in the elaboration of comprehensive and consistent datasets and the modeling of the EU electricity market.

The key aim of the first workshop was to elaborate a set of qualitative and quantitative system elements based on the expert’s judgments. Prior to the event, we provided workshop participants with a list of relevant system aspects of the EU electricity market which we obtained by conducting an extensive literature review. At the CIB workshop, experts were asked to give a critical assessment of these interdisciplinary aspects. Among the participants of the workshop were members of the 4NEMO project as well as external experts.

Short Overview of the Results:

The short list of relevant descriptors was elaborated through extensive discussions among the experts within the workshop and the subsequent evaluation of the questioner results. This descriptor list contains factors that together with the parameters of the electricity models aim to deliver a consistent picture of the future European electricity market. Expert judgements on the strength and nature of the links between the chosen factors is subject of the second CIB workshop. The work is in progress.
