ITUN student excursion to Achema and EVONIK

ITUN excursion group @ Achema exhibition
27 students attended the three-days excursion to the Achema exhibition and to the EVONIK company.

On Monday 18th June, 2018, 27 students and four ITUN researchers departed with the bus from Freiberg to Frankfurt, where once in three years the world’s larges exhibition on chemistry and process technology takes place. Having arrived at noon, three student groups attended guided tours, each at three different selected exhibiting companies. In the evening the bus brought the excursion group to the youth hostel. The following day, the attendees of the excursion were free to explore the exhibition with more than 5000 booths and a congress program. On Tuesday night a barbecue party took place at the youth hostel. On the last day of the excursion, on Wednesday, the group was welcomed at 9.00 am at the industrial chemical site "Hanau Wolfgang" by the company EVONIK Industries AG, where the students were informed about the company's structure and the company's business and ways to join the company. During very interesting and clearly presented tours through the site and through selected process plants the students got some very nice insights into research plants and the development stages from an idea to a product. Having enjoyed lunch with EVONIK engineers, the group traveled back to Freiberg. The excursion was financially supported by the VFF Freunde und Förderer der TU Bergakademie Freiberg e.V., by the DECHEMA and by the TUBAF. ITUN and the students are very much grateful for the financial support.
