Mechanical Engineering Germany - Iraq
About the academic partnership programme
In order to support the reconstruction of Iraq, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) approved a programme, which strengthens the long-term cooperation of German and Iraqi universities. German universities together with their respective Iraqi partners are supposed to realize a bundle of measures, which create the structure for a sustainable cooperation.

Summer school 20 – 31 August 2018 in Freiberg/Germany
This years summer school "Simulation and modeling of technical processes" seeks to impart knowledge on mathematical modeling in the fields of mechanical engineering, materials science, petroleum engineering, civil engineering and process engineering to students of the Iraqi partner universities as well as students of TU Bergakademie Freiberg.
The project "Mechanical Engineering Germany - Iraq" (MEGI)
The focus of the project is capacity building for laboratory technicians, lecturers, young academics, and professors of the Iraqi partner universities. Especially practical training and short courses on software training are important parts in capacity building due to the lack of modern experimental and analytical equipment at the partner universities.
The project started in September 2009 as a cooperation between TU Bergakademie Freiberg/Germany and the Iraqi universities: University of Technology Baghdad, Salahaddin University-Erbil, Diyala University and University of Sulaimani.
In 2018 our partner universities in scope of the MEGI project: Salahaddin University-Erbil, University of Technology Baghdad, Erbil Polytechnic University, University of Diyala, Koya University, Kirkuk University, Dohuk University, Ishik University, and Cihan University.
