September 2020 | Special Issue in the Journal Crystals
A special issue in the MDPI journal Crystals titled "Atomistic simulations for exploring the mechanics of crystals" will be edited by Dr. Arun Prakash of the MiMM group and Dr. Julien Guenole, Univ. Lorraine, Metz. The special issue is now open for submission.
We invite researchers to contribute to this Special Issue, which is a unique interdisciplinary forum covering multiple aspects of atomistic studies of mechanical behavior of crystals, ranging from structure generation, classical simulation studies, through linking atomistic studies to higher length scales, to visualization, and analysis of atomistic data.
For researcher who intended to published their work in a gold open access journal, this Special Issue is an excellent oportunity to gather state of the art studies and exploratory works in an impactfull widely accessible publication.

Prof. Sandfeld wurde am 9. Mai 2019 zum Leiter des DGM Fachausschusses "Computersimulation" gewählt und löst damit den langjährigen Leiter Herrn Dr. Roters (MPIE Düsseldorf) ab. 3rd October 2018 I First MiMM Team retreat
"Me thinks that the moment my legs begin to move, my thoughts begin to flow" - Henry David Thoreau The MiMM group took to the trails for a successful group retreat! The first day was filled with lively discussion about our current and future work, followed by a day of teambuilding; hiking in the Sächsische Schweiz.

15th September 2017 I MSMSE 25th Anniversary collection
The publication "Analysis of dislocation pile-ups using a dislocation-based continuum theory" co-autored by S. Sandfeld was selected as one of the 25 paper for the "MSMSE 25th Anniversary collection". 6th September 2017 I ERC Starting Grant awarded to Prof. Sandfeld
The European Research Council (ERC) awarded Prof. Sandfeld for his project proposal "A Multiscale Dislocation Language for Data-Driven Materials Science" (MuDiLingo) an ERC Starting Grant of approx. 1.5 Mio. Euro. ERC grants are among the most important and competitive European fundings means, that are awarded for research ideas of particular scientific excellence and novelty.
