Multivariate Statistics and Geostatistics


Note: The excercises are done in the open-source language R (www.r-project.org and www.rstudio.com). It can easily be installed on Linux and Windows plattforms and is avaiable at all PC-Pools at TU Freiberg. Own notebooks may be used for this seminar, too. The content relies on the knowledge from  the lecture Datenanalyse/Statistik.

The answers to the worksheet for a particular exercise have to be submitted before the next exercise in written form to Dr. Peter Menzel, either as pdf-file or as hard copy (printed or hand written) with the student id (Matrikel-Nr.). At least 4 submitted exercises are required for admisssion to either the exam or the additional short course that are needed to pass this lecture.

 Short course "Geostatistics"

The short course will take place in February 2019, from Mo. 11.2 to Fr. 15.2.2019. The course will be given by Dr. habil. R. Tolosana-Delgado. It starts Monday afternoon, ends on Freiday at noon and takes place at PC-Pool RAM 2119. Attendence, including practical exercises to be handed in, is mandatory for BGIP students that need to pass the lecture "Multivariate Statistics and Geostatistics". Everyone else, who is interested, please send an e-mail to Dr. Peter Menzel (peter [dot] menzelatgeophysik [dot] tu-freiberg [dot] de). Basic knowledge in multivariate and geostatistics, as well as some R skills are recommended. Own notebooks are allowed to be used.
