Virtuelle Realität und Multimedia

Professur Virtuelle Realität und Multimedia / Virtual Reality and Multimedia Group

The main research areas of our group are Virtual Reality (VR) and Advanced Robotics, informed by a background in Artificial Intelligence and Human-Computer Interaction.

In the field of Virtual Reality, current topics include large data visualization in immersive environments and intelligent virtual humans.  Our Virtual Reality lab is home to the XSITE, a VR-CAVE with an ultra-high resolution of 50 mega-pixels.

In robotics, we are interested in collaborative robots ("cobots") and explore machine learning techniques to make human-robot interaction more safe and intuitive. In the Mining-RoX and ARIDuA projects, we explore the use of autonomous mobile robots in mining, e.g. for automized 3D-mapping and environmental monitoring of mines.
