St. Barbara Celebration and annual meeting

At the end of November each year, the Association of Friends and Sponsors of TU Bergakademie Freiberg (VFF) holds its traditional St. Barbara Celebration in the ceremonial hall of the Old Refectory in Freiberg. The function is dedicated to the patron saint of miners, St. Barbara. The VFF’s first recorded St. Barbara Celebration was held on 6th December 1991.

Cancellation in 2020

In agreement with the Rectorate of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, the VFF Board of Management has decided to cancel the annual members' meeting and Barbara celebration in 2020. The rules in the coronavirus pandemic do not allow any other decision. The statutes of the association provide for an annual meeting at least every three years, so that there are no problems with the one-time cancellation from the point of view of the statutes.

100-year anniversary in 2021

However, the cancellation in 2020 is offset by a positive outlook for 2021. The VFF celebrates its 100th anniversary on 3 December 2021 and invites you to a celebration, annual meeting and Barbara celebration on 2 and 3 December 2021. Please save the date and reserve your overnight stays now, as these days before the 2nd Advent are in great demand in Freiberg hotels.
