Diversity

Diversity means as a term in society, the conscious and appreciative handling of the diversity and individuality of people and has found its way into organizational concepts.

At the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, we see the appreciative and accepting inclusion of the different nature of our students and employees in their diversity in academic work and life as a strength.

In doing so, we are guided in particular by the dimensions set out in the General Equal Treatment Act (Allgemeines gleichbehandlungsgesetz - AGG):

  • Gender or gender identity
  • Ethnic origin and skin color
  • Age
  • Disability/Handicap
  • Religion or worldview/odeology
  • Sexual identity.

But other aspects such as social background, financial situation or family situation can also be influencing factors for success at the university.

At the TU Bergakademie Freiberg we stand up against any form of discrimination and degradation.

The Equal Opportunities Officers are the first point of contact for any form of discrimination.

LGBTIAQ + people can also find support with AG QEERZ. The Studentenwerk offers accompanying psychosocial counseling, which can also take place anonymously if desired.

Science is internationally active and the cooperation with partner universities worldwide is an integral part of the work and also of the studies at our university. Since LGBTIAQ + people are still persecuted in many countries and threatened with drastic prison sentences or even the death penalty, they should inform themselves either on the website of the Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt) or here before traveling.
