Institute of Mechanical Process Engineering and Mineral Processing
The Freiberg Chair of Mechanical Process Engineering is one of the best known and most traditional chairs in mechanical process engineering. Prof. Heinrich Schubert has strongly influenced the Freiberg mechanical process engineering. Together with the experiences from the time of Prof. K. Husemann, spokesman of the Collaborative Research Center 285 "Particle interaction in processes of mechanical process engineering", this is a basis for current and future research. The research covers the entire field of mechanical process engineering with a focus on particle technology.
Institute of Thermal Process Engineering, Environmental and Natural Product Process Engineering
The origin of the Freiberg process technology coincides with the discovery of the rich silver ore deposits. This also determines the date of this historic event: 1168. In order to obtain the target product silver from the ore, numerous steps were required to achieve the desired metabolic transformation. Mechanical process engineering, thermal process engineering and reaction technology as pillars of process engineering interlocked with the view and knowledge of today. Crushing and sorting as essential processing steps, heat transfer, melting and crystallization, incineration, oxidation and reduction are some of the process steps familiar to today's process engineers.
Institute of Thermal Engineering
The Institute of Thermal Engineering is part of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering and Energy Technology (Fac. 4). It consists of the professorships:
- Technical Thermodynamics
- Gas and Heat Technology
