Study concept

Mechanical engineering aspects are linked to  materials science and materials technology in the master's program „Automotive Construction: Materials and Components“. In this way, the student is thus provided with knowledge that gives an deeper understanding in the world of materials. This expertise should not be underestimated – because the automotive is a complex combination of materials: from metal to ceramics/glass and polymers to a mix of all these.

The programme is aimed at those with an academic degree in the field of materials technology. It offers knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering (e.g. lightweight construction, design analysis). The applicant needs an academic degree in the field of mechanical engineering or automotive engineering that deals with issues in the field of materials engineering (e.g. corrosion, stress behaviour).

Since materials play a role everywhere, the later professional field is not necessarily limited to the automotive industry or its supplier industry.
