Admission requirement

Bachelor degree (at least 6 semesters) or an equivalent degree in the field of Engineering Science with a major in Materials Science or in the field of Natural Science with a major in Physics or Chemistry which should include subjects related to solid state physics or solid state chemistry. Please note: Applicants with a degree in "Mechanical Engineering" who have not taken any of the listed majors during their studies will generally not be admitted for professional reasons.

TOEFL with at least 90 points (internet based) or IELTS with at least 6.5 points or equivalent tests.

Study concept

Development of advanced materials of all types requires use (and combination) of various instrumental analysis techniques in order to influence the production processes into desired directions and in order to evaluate structure-property relations. Therefore, materials analysis plays a key role not only in research and development but also in their production control.

The Master programme Advanced Materials Analysis provides profound insight into techniques for analysis of materials like advanced steels, materials for electronics, shape memory alloys and energy materials.

Based on a Bachelor’s degree in materials science, physics or chemistry the students are prepared for a career in industry as well as in academia. Thereby, the strongly methodological character of the programme will open the door to quite versatile range of industrial fields, from metallurgy to semiconductor industry. In addition the graduates can pursue a career in academic research or research centres.
