112 is the common emergency telephone number that can be dialled free of charge from any fixed or mobile telephone in order to reach emergency services (ambulance, fire and rescue, police) in numerous European Countries, including all member states of the European Union, as well as several other countries in the world.

The German Student Services has published an illustrated booklet in German and English language that informs for example about what to do in an accident, at the doctor, health insurance, studying with children and contacts for people seeking help. Additionally it contains a translation table of key terms.
