Study concept

Mechanical engineering aspects are linked to materials science and materials technology in the program „Automotive Construction: Materials and Components“. In this way, the student is thus provided with knowledge that gives an deeper understanding in the world of materials. This expertise should not be underestimated – because the automotive is a complex combination of materials: from metal to ceramics/glass and polymers to a mix of all these.

The combination of materials science and materials technology with mechanical engineering results in the speciality of this course of study – one acquires knowledge and skills over the entire path of a component: from the idea to the planning and construction, the selection of materials and production to the final product. This enables the graduate to actively shape the entire process chain. Since materials play a role everywhere, the later professional field is not necessarily limited to the automotive industry or its supplier industry.
