On October 28, Mayor Sven Krüger, together with Jens Then, the acting Chancellor of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, welcomed the new international students of the winter semester 2019/2020 to the city hall of Freiberg.

"I am delighted that you have chosen Freiberg and the Bergakademie as your places of study. With the Bergakademie Freiberg you have chosen a university rich in tradition with a view to the challenges of the future," explained Jens Then, acting Chancellor of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg.

The interest in studying at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg is very high internationally. The number of applicants has almost doubled. In the winter semester 2019/2020, around 400 new international students, mainly from emerging industrial nations and resource countries such as India and China, enrolled to study at Freiberg. The 14 international master courses at the TU, including the new course "Geomatics for Mineral Resource Management", are particularly popular.  In this course, students are primarily concerned with resource extraction and its environmental impact.

Already during the orientation week of the International Office of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, the new students could get to know Freiberg in an original way, make first contacts with new fellow students and received information about life and studying in Freiberg.

The International Office is always ready to help international students with questions and problems and offers them the Buddy Program, the Mentor Program or Language Tutor Programs to accompany them during their studies at the TU Freiberg.
