TU Freiberg Celebrates 50 Years of Geotechnical Training

Together with scientists from the Institute of Geotechnics at TU Freiberg and other guests, 30 geotechnical alumni from all over the world took part in a workshop entitled "50 years of geotechnical training at TU Bergakademie Freiberg" from November 12 to 16.

At the five-day event, graduates of geotechnical engineering from Canada, the USA, India, Great Britain, Mongolia, Spain, Vietnam, Indonesia, Romania, Mozambique, Poland and China presented current engineering and research projects. At the same time, scientists from the Institute of Geotechnics at TU Freiberg presented their latest research results.

Group PictureThe aim was to encourage the intensive exchange of experience and knowledge in order to strengthen international cooperation. With almost three hundred participants and many other international guests, the 47th Geomechanics Colloquium concluded the festivities on November 16. Topics at the colloquium included tunnelling and mining, final disposal of waste products, geotechnical measurement technology and mass movement.

Lab VisitThe anniversary week was supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), TU Bergakademie Freiberg Association of Friends e.V. and the association of Freiberger Geotechniker e.V.
