Dr.-Ing. Martin Sobczyk has taken over the professorship for Networked Mobile Machines at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering and Energy Technology on July 1. The position is funded as an endowed professorship at the TU Freiberg.

For the first five years, it is financially supported by the professional associations for construction and building material machinery and mining within the VDMA and the Forschungsvereinigung Bau- und Baustoffmaschinen e. V. (Research Association for Construction and Building Material Machinery). The aim is to focus the traditional institute on the challenges of electrification and digitisation.

Since 2015, Dr. Martin Sobczyk has been managing director of Krebs&Aulich GmbH in Wernigerode within the CETERUM Group, a globally active developer and manufacturer of special motors and generators for automotive test benches, electromobility projects and renewable energies. Prior to this, the 43-year-old native of Magdeburg held leading positions in industry.

Dr. Sobczyk studied industrial engineering sciences for mechanical engineering at Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg from 1995 to 2001 and received his doctorate there, with study visits to Great Britain and Japan, from 2002 to 2007.
