Scholarship to Fund the Completion of Doctoral Studies
By resolution of the Rectorate Commission for Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (RK DGI), there will be two application deadlines each year for funding (in the form of a scholarship) to assist in the completion of doctoral studies: The next deadline for the submission of applications is 28th of February 2021.
The scholarship serves to close a funding gap in the completion of doctoral, postdoctoral or habilitation studies for a maximum of 6 months. Women, fathers intensively involved in caring for their families (e.g. through parental leave or due to caring for a child during a prolonged illness), and doctoral students in difficult life situations are to be enabled to quickly and successfully complete a doctoral thesis which has been delayed due to the twin burdens of family and occupation, or for reasons that are no fault of their own.
A cost-sharing agreement with the faculty or the institute of the doctoral/post-doctoral student is not necessary.
The scholarship regulations can be viewed here.
It should be noted that prior to submitting an application, there is a duty of consultation with the Equal Opportunities Officer of the Faculty and/or with the representatives of the Rectorate Commission for Diversity, Equality and Inclusion. The purpose of the consultation is to present the current status of the doctorate, including the submission of chapters already written, publications and any approved or, at least, prepared application for an alternative appointment for the doctorate’s viva voce defense. This assists in evaluating the likelihood of the successful conclusion of the doctorate within six months and the discussion and initiation of concrete steps to complete the doctorate.
The application form, the supervisor's form and the declaration of intent to complete the doctorate during the funding period can be downloaded as PDF forms.
Applications must be sent to the Rector's Office.
