The Mary Hegeler Scholarship

TU Bergakademie Freiberg has made the decision to award a habilitation scholarship, which will henceforth be referred to as the “Mary Hegeler Scholarship”. Mary Hegeler was the first female student to register at the Bergakademie in Freiberg.

PhD's can apply for scholarships for a maximum of 12 months in each case – either to apply for a project that qualifies them for an academic career (habilitation) or to support them in completing a habilitation.

The scholarship amounts to EUR 2,300 per month plus any additional fees.

The Charter for the Mary Hegeler Scholarship was approved by the university senate on July 24, 2012. With the amendment of the university's charter on October 30, 2013, an increase in the scholarship allowance was approved. The second amendment to the university's charter (dated June 17, 2014) pertains to the simplification of the payment of flat-rate allowances for material and travel expenses.

By resolution of the Rectorate Commission for Equal Opportunities, there will be two rounds of application in 2018. For the current call for proposals, applications can be submitted to the Rectorate / Rector's Office until 28th of February, 2021.

The application form can be downloaded as an MS Word document.

In circumstances of exceptional necessity, applications can also be submitted outside of the application deadlines.
