Exhibition of the Paleontological & Stratigraphic Collection
Parts of the paleontological and stratigraphic collection are shown together in an exhibition in the Humboldt-Bau
Exhibition of the Paleontological Collection
In addition to an introduction to the historical development of the collection, the exhibition presents the basics of fossilization, systematics, paleobiology and phylogenetics of the organisms with often outstanding and rare exhibits. Here, the focus is on invertebrates and plants, which are important for geology. The principle of order follows the natural system of organisms. The basis for the paleozoological part of the exhibition is the seven-volume "Lehrbuch der Paläozoologie" by A.H. MÜLLER.
Exhibition of the Stratigraphic Collection
The ordering principle is the time of origin of the rocks (with the fossils contained therein) and therein the different sedimentation or formation areas (orogens, old platforms, young platforms). Special emphasis is put on the recording and presentation of type profiles, biostratigraphic leading forms, phylogenetic series and ecological differentiations.
