Collaborative Research Center 799 organizes education event for teachers for the first time

The training took place in the premises of the Institute of Materials Engineering and was held under the motto "New materials with metals and non-metals (composites)". The event was a collaboration between the Saxon Education Institute Radebeul (Sächsisches Bildungsinstitut (SBI)) and the Collaborative Research Center 799 "TRIP-Matrix Composite".

Autumn School of the Collaborative Research Centre in at the Leipzig

As in every year, the Ph.D. students of the Collaborative Research Centre 799 "TRIP-Matrix Composite" met for the traditional annual autumn school. Besides a tour of the plant there were a number of lectures and speeches, held by nationally and internationally recognized scientists.

Special issue of "Advanced Engineering Materials" regarding the CRC 799: "TRIP-Matrix Composite" published

The trade journal "Advanced Engineering Materials" devoted an entire issue on the topic "TRIP-Matrix Composite", which was released in July 2013 at WILEY-VCH Verlag. Prof. Horst Biermann, speaker of the CRC 799, was involved in the preparation of the issue as guest editor.

WorldSkills Leipzig 2013 - TU Freiberg presented scanning electron microscope of the Student Laboratory

On the occasion of the "World Cup of Jobs" in Leipzig, the Institute for Materials Technology at the Technical University of Freiberg presented the scanning electron microscope (SEM) of the Student Laboratory as part of the joint stand with the IHK Chemnitz as a working equipment of the newly developed training profession "tool examiner".

Special honour for of the winners of the CRC-student competition

Additional to the prize of an Apple iPod, all winners of the CRC-student competition for the best entries in four categories were awarded with a very personal Research Day at the University of Freiberg. On this day, in addition to the honorable award ceremony, several workshops were held, in which the winners could explore the preparation and properties of composite materials and specially crash structures along with Freiberger scientists.

Multiple successful promotions of the Collaborative Research Center 799

In June 2013, the three former CRC799 Ph.D. students, Dr.-Ing. Anna Yanina, Dr.-Ing. David Ehinger and Dr. rer. pol. Peggy Rathmann successfully defended their dissertations.

German Society for Materials Science (DGM) gives award to Freiberger scientist

Prof. Ulrich Martin, a member of the Collaborative Research Center 799 "TRIP-Matrix Composite" of the Technical University of Freiberg, received one of the highest-ranking awards of the German Society for Materials Science (DGM): the Tammann commemorative coin.

Prof. Horst Biermann, Dean of the Faculty of Materials Science and Materials Technology, Director of the Institute of Materials Technology and Speaker of the Collaborative Research Centre 799 "TRIP-Matrix Composite" of the Technical University of Freiberg, is added to the Academy of Sciences and Literature, Mainz.

International scientists visited Freiberg

The 24th International Conference "Mechanisms of Fatigue" was held in Freiberg, under the auspices of the Institute of Materials Technology (Prof. Horst Biermann), TU Freiberg and the Institute of Physics (Prof. Werner Skrotzki) of the TU Dresden. A total of 90 national and international scientists from USA, Russia, China, France, Austria and the Czech Republic attended the two-day event.

Saxon Science Minister visited the Collaborative Research Center 799

The Saxon State Minister for Science and Art, Prof. Sabine von Schorlemer, visited the TU Freiberg. A central station of her stay was the visit of the Collaborative Research Center (CRC) 799 "TRIP-Matrix Composite".
