Education
- 1977–1982: Diploma (M.Sc.) in Geology/Geochemistry, University of St. Petersburg, Russia
- 1982–1984: Scientific researcher at the GFE (Geological Research and Exploration) of the Ministry of Geology, Freiberg, Germany
- 1984–1991: Doctoral researcher at the Institute of „Precambrian Geology and Geochronology“, St. Petersburg Academy of Science, Russia
- 1991: Doctoral degree at the St. Petersburg Academy of Science, Russia. Thesis title: O- and C-isotopes of sedimentary and igneous carbonates
Professional Experience
- Since 1992: Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany
- Since 1993: Head of the isotope laboratory (C, O, S, Rb-Sr, U-Pb), Institute of Mineralogy, TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany
- 2002: Postdoctorate lecturing qualification "Habilitation" granted in Geochemistry (Dr. habil) (Genesis of Gneisses from the Erzgebirge and comparison to other Saxothuringian units), TU Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany

- Geochronology (Rb/Sr, Pb/Pb, U/Pb)
- Stable isotope geochemistry (S, O, C) including stable isotopes as tracers in oxidation processes (e.g. sulphide oxidation in acid mine drainage)
