The chair of Construction Business Management

The chair of Construction Business Management was founded in 1997. This chair is a distinctive feature at the TU Freiberg because it is the only existing chair of this nature at a fully developed economic faculty in Germany. Univ.-Prof. Jacob unifies practical management knowledge of the building industry with the knowledge of a construction engineer. This allows him to teach the practical side as well as the business side on a higher level. This will be reflected in his courses as well as in his vast research projects with companies, organizations of the building sector and the public sector. For example were projects adapted for the "Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Arbeit", the "Finanzministerium Nordrhein-Westfalen", the "Hauptverband der Deutschen Bauindustrie" and last but no least for the "Verband der Bauindustrie Niedersachsen".

Focuses of research and teaching

The teaching includes the areas of strategy and controlling, project management and business, finance and accounting, business project development and private construction law from the management’s point of view.

The operation field of the main research includes the topics public private partnership, life-cycle-costs, building information modelling, risk management, construction costing and controlling as well as project development for contaminated property.
