Kick-off meeting of new “Audi Stiftung für Umwelt” project at ITUN

On 9th and 10th of July, 2019, the kick-off meeting of a two-years project funded by the Audi Stiftung für Umwelt took place at the Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg.

The project is entitled “Sustainable isolation of high-tech elements for the electromobility through in-situ extraction and fractionation”.

One essential point of the meeting was the inspection and start-up of an in-situ testing membrane pilot plant within the Biohydrometallurgical Center for Strategic Elements (BHMZ) at the research and training mine “Reiche Zeche”. The membrane pilot plant is designed for the downstream processing of an in-situ generated bioleaching solution. First priority is it to make a contribution to an eco-friendly mining and extraction of critical raw elements.
