Short study on the production of hydrogen with a low greenhouse gas footprint

Our short study on the production of hydrogen with a low greenhouse gas footprint was recently published.

For the different production routes, important parameters such as yield, energy demand and efficiency, greenhouse gas reduction potential and costs were considered using modular calculation models. 

The results show that the use of blue hydrogen can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 80%. Due to the still limited availability of renewable electricity for the production of green hydrogen as well as the further growing demand for electricity in the course of sector coupling, blue hydrogen represents a reasonable alternative for achieving the climate targets.
