Role – Tasks – Collection Areas

The university library „Georgius Agricola“ is a central facility of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg and as an academic library sponsored by the Free State of Saxony.

It includes a single-layered library system, consisting of one main and one branch library. The library supports research, science and studies at the university by contributing literature and other information mediums.

From January 1, 1998 until December 31, 2014 the University Library took part in the system of transregional literature supply (special subject collections) supported by the German Research Foundation.

The collection areas match the subject and research areas of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg.

The specialist fields geology, mineralogy, petrology, soil science, mining, metallurgy and mine surveying were part of the special subject collections from 1998 to 2014 which were supported by the German Research Foundation.
