From 9 to 12 October, pupils from schools of the national MINT-EC Excellence School Network visited the TU Bergakademie Freiberg and investigated which raw materials are in tablets & co. and how to find them. They also found out how digitalisation and robotics can be used underground in modern raw material extraction. The wide-ranging programme was supported by the young scientists Sebastian Varga and Frederic Güth from the ARIDuA project. In addition to attending a lecture on the objectives of the project, the pupils were able to become active themselves in a short workshop at a depth of 150 metres and analysed the environmental conditions in the research and training mine using radio-based sensors.
