Dieses Kolloquium ist eine halbtägige, hybride Veranstaltung. Sie können zwischen der virtuellen und der Teilnahme vor Ort wählen. 

Glass is versatile and possesses unparalleled technical capabilities. Glass is helping to reach eleven of the seventeen United Nations development goals for 2030. Thus, 2022 has been proclaimed as the “United Nations International Year of Glass (IYoG2022)”. During the special colloquium within the 73rd BHT - FREIBERGER UNIVERSITÄTSFORUM, we discuss this transformative material with reference to the United Nations’ goals in Agenda 2030, and the challenges of the energy and raw materials transition in particular.

Contributions are sought on, but not limited to, the following areas: 

  • UN Goal 11 – Sustainable cities and communities: glasses in transportation, functional glazing, innovative design, lightweight, safety, recycling
  • UN Goal 12 – Responsible (glass) consumption and production: circularity, energy consumption, embodied carbon reduction, material footprint

In accordance with UN Goal 5 – Gender equality – we would like to especially encourage women to contribute. In relation to UN Goal 9 – Industry, innovation and infrastructure – we are happy to enhance scientific research by supporting company-based contributions, especially collaboration with or between small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the glass sector.
