We are happy that you are interested in studying at our university and would like to give you as much information as possible to inform you about the university, studies and application procedure.

TU Bergakademie Freiberg is a university  rich in traditions in the middle of Germany, in the Free State of Saxony and was founded in 1765.

For your studies it could be a very good choice since you will find good conditions for successful studies. This university provides a friendly atmosphere and professors as well as staff are committed to taking a personal interest in each student. We are a Campus University, you do not actually need a car or a bus – all lecture halls, classrooms, laboratories, dorms, the cafeteria and the library are located within a walking distance on the campus.

Freiberg is a lovely city with a wonderful historical centre and has about 50.000 inhabitants.

It was founded around 1165 after having discovered silver ore in this region. This, by the way, was the basis for the development of the Geosciences in this town.

Freiberg is not far from Dresden (35 km), Leipzig  (100 km), Berlin (200 km) or Prague in the Czech Republic (150 km).

We offer study courses in the fields of mining, geoscience and geoengineering, engineering, mathematics and sciences, economics and environment. See the detailed list of courses.

We have about 5.500 students and among those are about 10 % international students coming from China, Vietnam, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Poland, Arabian or African countries from many other places in the world.
