Seismics/Seismology working group

Seismic exploration methods play an important role for imaging the Earth's interior, thereby covering a broad range of applications on different scales within the earth, including but not limited to:

  • exploration and characterization of hydrocarbon reservoirs
  • mineral exploration
  • characterization of geothermal reservoirs
  • investigations of geodynamic processes within the earth's crust and mantle (fault systems, rifting, subduction, etc.)
  • etc.

The research of our "Seismics/Seismology" working group focuses on the development and application of seismic imaging, inversion and modelling techniques for active- and passive-source seismic data.

We cover the complete range from seismic acquisition over advanced seismic data processing to interpretation of the findings.
